Articles are available online as they emerge one-by-one from our editorial process and are assembled into an issue to be printed and then mailed to APLS members and subscribing institutions. (And, yes, thanks, we know we’re behind, but we are catching up!) Previous contributions — some in full, some in abstract — may be found at the PLS Back Issues page.
APLS members and subscribing institutions may download full-text files, both before and after print publication. (To learn more about subscribing to POLITICS AND THE LIFE SCIENCES, click here.) Visitors may download abstracts. Some items may occasionally be made available in full text to everyone.
All downloadable full-text items are posted as PDFs — “portable document format” files. You will need a PDF viewer to read them, but you probably already have one (or several). If not, Adobe offers free of charge its Acrobat Reader application in versions for all major operating systems. You can find the version you need here. If you run Apple Computer’s Mac OS X you may use either Adobe Acrobat or the Adobe Acrobat Reader or OS X’s own PDF-reader application, Preview, or one of its clones.

For PLS 21:2, 22:1, and 22:2
Go to the PLS Back Issues page and click on the issue you need. If you are an APLS member, press any button below marked to download a full-text PDF. You will be prompted to enter your user name and password. Your user name is the text of your e-mail address — the one registered with APLS — prior to the @, and your password is the text of your e-mail address following the @. If you have not yet registered for full-text access, please register now. (No, we will not sell or rent or lend your e-mail address, though the APLS, as you wish, will either include it or not include it in a member directory.)
If you are logged-on from a subscribing institution — such as a subscribing university, institute, library, or agency — please press buttons below marked to download full-text PDFs. If you are an APLS member using a network connection at a subscribing institution, you will not be prompted. (But you will want to make sure that your institution continues to subscribe!)
If you are not an APLS member and are not logged-on from a subscribing institution, please press buttons below marked .
Any paper offered as a full-text PDF to all comers will be marked .
If these buttons fail to work as expected, please be sure your browser's preferences have been set to enable JavaScript. You might also want to update your browser to its most recent version. If troubles persist, please report them here.

For PLS 23:1 and later
A new scheme applies starting with issue 23:1. Articles are selected directly from an issue’s cover image, reached as always by clicking on a “thumbnail” version of the image displayed on the Welcome page (and, later on, by clicking a link on the Back Issues page). Choices are Paid PDF, for APLS members and readers at subscribing institutions; Free PDF, for everyone; and Free abstract, likewise for everyone.
